FAZED AND CONFLICTED

Ailment:
Hello Ella and Suse,

I am a young woman beginning her career. Hoping it will take me to great cities in the future, however my boyfriend dreams of the opposite. He is a wonderful guy, we live together and have a fantastic relationship that is cemented in years of friendship. Yet, I'm not sure he is the one.  And also, I am not ready for marriage, children, and putting roots down. I'm conflicted, and have yet to read a realistic story of a young woman in this predicament.

Is he the one? He would be a great life partner. Can I sacrifice the dreams of a glorious career? I don't want to, I have had them all my life. How can I be with someone who is so vastly different than me? He makes me laugh...

What do you suggest for me...please help me find a novel ally.

Yours,
Fazed and Conflicted
Dear Fazed and Conflicted,
We applaud your self-awareness and ability to accept that you are full of doubt and indecision, while acknowledging that this man could be a great life partner, even though he doesn not tie in with the vision of your future that you have always nurtured. We feel that you need to give him a chance, and that you should try living each other's dream for a couple of years at a time. A guy or girl that makes you laugh can take you a long, long way, believe us! We urge you not to sacrifice your dreams of a glorious career, but to do your best to follow it. If the relationship has legs, he will want you to give it a go too. So your perfect novel ally is environmentally crusading princess Leigh Cheri from Tom Robbins' Still LIfe with Woodpecker, who meets the deeply inappropriate outlaw Bernard Mickey Wrangle. They seem to be an ill-matched pair; she believes in improving the world, while he wants to live life to the utmost even if it means creating havoc while he does it. Many twists and turns of fate show their love holding through. We think that you will relate to the dilemmas that Leigh Cheri encounters while romancing with Wrangle through the landscape of a Camel cigarette packet's graphics. It's a surreal novel at times, but one with a message that we think will clear your confusion.
Yours,
Ella and Suse
