Gettings from Argentina.
Dear Maria,

How terrible! Turning to baking sounds like a good remedy, but of course we have some literary remedies for you too. It sounds like you know that the argument was foolish, and that you need to send out an olive branch - how about giving your friends both a book, that you can all read together? You could even send them the book, without explaining why. We suggest that you should get three copies of The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya sisterhood, by Rebecca Wells. This is a brilliant novel that describes the life-long friendships of a group of women who go through all the vicissitudes of life together, and share many dark secrets, have huge falling-outs, and come back together. At the start of the book, the heroine Siddalee is not talking to her mother as they have had a huge disagreement. The action of the novel takes us through the steps they take to come back together. This novel will remind the three of you about how important you are to each other, how great friendships are especially when they last for years or even decades, and how easy it is, in fact, to make the first move.

Yours,
Ella and Suse
