Ella and Susan had a fabulous trip to Obidos, where they enormously enjoyed dosing out Portuguese prescriptions of a literary variety. They both even got to kiss the President of Portugal, showering him with literary love. Any of you readers out there who  haven't been to Obidos yet, it's a stunningly beautiful mediaeval town with walls 30 foot high which you can walk, teetering over the top of the ever-growing number of bookshops that are taking over their grocers, wine emporiums, bus-stops and even churches. Visit if you can, and look out for the Folio festival next year. We also met our first Portuguese bibliotherapist, Cesar Manrique, who has a wonderful take on bibliotherapy unique to Lisbon. Portuguese readers, seek him out!
